Linktree vs Shorby

Which is better for creators, Linktree or Shorby?

Shorby Rocket and Linktree Pro both cost $15 a month, or $12 billed annually, which makes this an unusually clean comparison: same price, very different amounts of product. Linktree Pro at that price includes Google Analytics, the Facebook Conversion API, global UTM parameters, SEO settings, email platform sync and a full design suite. Shorby Rocket gives you five pages, ten rich links per page and messenger buttons, and the vendor's own upgrade page presents Google Analytics and ad-tracking platforms as Pro features at $29 a month. Shorby earns its place if you want a messenger-style page, dynamic feeds or an agency setup with per-project custom domains, the last of which Linktree cannot match at any price. For almost everything else, Linktree does more for the same money and has a free plan where Shorby has a five-day trial.

At $15 a month these two cost exactly the same, and that is the problem

Shorby Rocket is $15 a month, or $12 billed annually. Linktree Pro is $15 a month, or $12 billed annually. Both land at $144 a year. It is rare for two tools in this category to line up that precisely, and it removes price from the argument entirely.

What $144 buys on Shorby Rocket: five pages, ten rich links per page, multiple messenger buttons and the Shor Rewards loyalty programme. What it buys on Linktree Pro: advanced themes, advanced button and font styles, wallpaper images and video, hero and video profile images, header layouts, Google Analytics, the Facebook Conversion API, global UTM parameters, SEO settings, email platform sync to Mailchimp, Kit, Klaviyo or Google Sheets, audience, location, device and referrer insights, AI-driven analytics, a 365-day analytics window, hidden Linktree footer, multiple admins and a 12-hour support response target.

Shorby also has no free tier. New accounts get a five-day trial that starts on Rocket. Linktree's free plan sells digital products and courses, captures emails and phone numbers, embeds music and video and carries roughly two dozen link apps, all for nothing, albeit with a 12% seller fee, a 28-day analytics window and a beta that shows visitors interstitial ads on some free pages.

What Shorby is actually built for

The distinctive thing is messenger-first routing. Every tier includes multiple direct messenger buttons, and the page editor is built from Messengers, Button or Card, Subtitle and Text, Dynamic feed, Countdown and Social Links blocks. If your traffic converts in WhatsApp or Telegram rather than on a landing page, that is a genuinely different product shape, and Linktree has no equivalent.

The marketing story starts on Pro at $29 a month, or $24 billed annually. That is $288 a year, double Linktree Pro. Pro adds 50 pages, 50 rich links, five dynamic feeds per page, and the bullet Shorby leads with: "Google Analytics and Ad Tracking platforms". Rocket's bullet list names neither. Agency at $99 a month ($82 annually) adds three or more projects, ten team members per project and 250 pages.

One correction to data that circulates widely, including in our own older material: the per-tier ad-platform counts (one on Rocket, seven on Pro) no longer appear anywhere on Shorby's own upgrade page, and neither do the tracked-click and branded-URL limits. Treat those numbers as unconfirmed rather than current. What is first-party and current is the plan structure: 5, 50 and 250 pages, and dynamic feeds on Pro and Agency only.

Custom domain is a point for Shorby, with an asterisk

Linktree does not offer a custom domain on any plan at any price, and confirms this in its help centre. Your URL is always linktr.ee/yourname. Shorby does offer one, which makes it one of several tools that beat Linktree on this specific point.

The asterisk is which tier it starts on. Shorby's comparison table lists the row as "Custom Domain", scoped per project, and projects are an Agency-tier concept: Agency is the plan defined as "3+ projects". Our data records the custom domain on Pro, but the availability ticks on Shorby's table render as images that we could not read, so we have not been able to confirm it. If a custom domain is the reason you are considering Shorby, verify the tier before paying.

There is no commerce on either side of this particular question. Shorby operates no storefront and processes no transactions, so there are no seller fees, because there is nothing to sell. Linktree sells from its free plan at 12%, drops to 9% on Starter and Pro, and reaches 0% on Premium at $35 a month.

Shorby has stopped running a website, which tells you something

shorby.com no longer serves a marketing site. It is now a small stub whose only function is to redirect into the app. There is no public product documentation, no changelog, and no way to see pricing without reaching the in-app upgrade page. For a paid-only tool with a five-day trial, that is a meaningful thing to weigh: you are asked to commit before you can read what you are buying.

A related myth worth killing, because it now appears in several review roundups: Shorby has not been renamed to "Shor". The app titles itself "Shor." because shor.by is the company's short-link domain rendered with a period. There is no rebrand announcement anywhere, the hidden links on shorby.com still read "SHORBY", and the app's social preview image is still served from shorby.com. It is still Shorby.

None of which makes Linktree faultless. It has no custom domain, no custom CSS and no native email sending. Its free plan takes the highest seller cut in the category at 12%, caps analytics at 28 days and may show visitors ads. And the design suite that most people upgrade for moved from the $8 Starter plan up to $15 Pro during 2026.

Who should choose what

Choose Linktree if

  • You want to try before paying: Linktree has a free plan, Shorby has a five-day trial
  • You sell digital products or courses; Shorby has no storefront and no payment processing
  • You want Google Analytics, UTM parameters and conversion tracking for $15 rather than $29
  • You want to be able to read the documentation and pricing before you sign up
  • You want tiered support commitments, from 48 hours on Free down to 4 hours on Premium

Choose Shorby if

  • Your audience converts in messengers, and multiple direct messenger buttons are the point of the page
  • You want a custom domain and Linktree's flat refusal to offer one is a dealbreaker
  • You run many pages: 50 on Pro and 250 on Agency, against Linktree's one profile per account
  • You are an agency wanting projects with ten team members each, at $99 a month
  • You want dynamic feeds pulling content onto the page automatically, which Linktree does not do

Frequently asked questions

Did Shorby rebrand to Shor?

No. Shorby is still called Shorby. The confusion comes from the app interface titling itself "Shor.", which is the company's short-link domain shor.by rendered with a period rather than a new wordmark. No rebrand announcement exists from the vendor, the hidden navigation links on shorby.com still read "SHORBY", and the app's social preview image is still hosted on shorby.com. Several review sites report the rename anyway; they are wrong.

Does Shorby have a free plan?

No. Shorby's cheapest option is the Rocket plan at $15 a month, or $12 a month billed annually. New accounts get a five-day trial that begins on Rocket. This is the clearest structural difference from Linktree, whose free plan includes unlimited links, email and phone capture, music and video embeds, a QR code and the ability to sell digital products at a 12% fee.

How much does Shorby cost?

Shorby has three plans. Rocket is $15 a month or $12 billed annually and includes five pages, ten rich links per page and multiple messenger buttons. Pro is $29 a month or $24 annually and adds 50 pages, 50 rich links, five dynamic feeds per page, Google Analytics and ad-tracking platforms. Agency is $99 a month or $82 annually and adds three or more projects, ten team members per project and 250 pages. Prices are only visible from inside the app's upgrade page.

Can you sell products on Shorby?

No. Shorby operates no storefront and processes no transactions, so it charges no seller or transaction fees. There is nothing to charge them on. It is a link management and traffic-routing tool. Linktree sells digital products and courses from its free plan, taking 12% there, 9% on Starter and Pro, and 0% on Premium at $35 a month, with standard payment-processor fees on top.

Does Shorby offer a custom domain when Linktree does not?

Yes, with a caveat about which plan. Linktree offers no custom domain on any plan at any price and says so in its own help centre. Shorby does list one, but its comparison table lists that row as "Custom Domain", scoped per project, and projects are an Agency-tier concept at $99 a month. Our records place it on Pro at $29 a month; the availability markers on Shorby's page render as images we could not read, so the tier is unconfirmed. Verify before paying for it.

Is Linktree just a simple link list?

Not any more. Linktree's free plan sells digital products and courses, embeds music and video, captures emails and phone numbers, and includes a QR code and roughly two dozen link apps. Pro at $15 a month adds a full design suite, Google Analytics, the Facebook Conversion API, global UTM parameters, SEO settings, email platform sync and AI-driven analytics. Premium adds dynamic links with smart routing and Instagram DM triggers. Its real limits are elsewhere: no custom domain on any plan, no custom CSS, no native email sending, and a 12% cut on free-plan sales.
