How we evaluate tools
Our methodology for reviewing, scoring, and comparing link-in-bio and creator tools. Full transparency, no shortcuts.
Our approach
Link in Bio exists to give creators useful information about the tools they use. The link-in-bio category is crowded and confusing, so we try to make it easier to compare options and find the right fit.
Our tool reviews, comparisons, and recommendations are based on hands-on evaluation - we sign up, test features, and document what we find.
How we evaluate each tool
We evaluate every tool through a consistent process designed to surface real differences rather than marketing differences:
- Sign up and set up. We create an account on every tool we review, using both free and paid tiers where available. We set up a realistic link page with actual content.
- Use it for real work. We test core functionality - adding links, customizing design, setting up analytics, enabling commerce features - as a creator would in day-to-day use.
- Score against criteria. We rate each tool across six evaluation criteria (detailed below), assigning scores from 0-10 based on what we observed.
- Document pros, cons, and best-for. Every review includes genuine strengths, genuine weaknesses, and a clear recommendation for who the tool suits best.
- Publish and maintain. Reviews are published with a “Last reviewed” date and updated when tools change significantly.
Scoring criteria
Every tool is scored on six criteria. Each receives a score from 0 to 10. Here's what we look at and how much each matters to our overall assessment:
Ease of Use
20%How quickly can a new user set up their link page? Is the interface intuitive? Can you accomplish common tasks without consulting help docs?
Feature Depth
20%How comprehensive is the feature set? Does it cover the basics well and offer meaningful extras? We compare against the category standard, not an imaginary ideal.
Value for Money
20%What do you get for what you pay? A strong free tier scores well. Expensive plans need to justify the price with genuinely useful features.
Customization
15%How much control do you have over your page's appearance? Can you match your brand? Are design options meaningful or just cosmetic?
Analytics
15%Can you understand who's visiting your page and what they're clicking? Are the analytics actionable, not just decorative?
Support
10%Is help available when you need it? How fast are responses? Is documentation clear? Support matters most when things go wrong.
These weights reflect what matters most to the majority of creators choosing a link-in-bio tool. If you have specific needs (e.g., analytics is your top priority), our comparison tool lets you evaluate tools feature-by-feature.
How we stay current
Creator tools change constantly - new pricing, new features, redesigned interfaces. A review from six months ago might be meaningless today. Here's how we handle that:
- Quarterly re-reviews. Every tool in our database is re-evaluated at least once every three months. We check for pricing changes, new features, and significant UI updates.
- Event-triggered updates. Major announcements (new pricing tiers, acquisitions, significant feature launches) trigger an immediate re-review.
- “Last reviewed” dates. Every tool profile shows when it was last evaluated. If you see a date that's more than a few months old, assume we're working on an update.
- Reader corrections. If you spot something that's wrong or outdated, let us know and we'll verify and update.
