Which is better for creators, Later or Linktree?
Later and Linktree both hand you a link page for nothing, so price is not the deciding factor people expect it to be. Later's free plan includes a customizable Link in Bio page, and Linktree's free plan includes unlimited links, email and phone capture, embeds and a storefront that charges 12% per sale. The split is what sits behind the page: Linktree's paid tiers ($8, $15, $35 a month) buy page features and a marketing stack, while Later's ($25, $50, $110 a month) buy publishing capacity: more social profiles, more scheduled posts, more analytics history. Choose Linktree if the link page is the job and you want it cheap, deep and able to sell. Choose Later if you are already planning a content calendar across several platforms and would rather the link page came bundled with it.

Pricing
Later
Linktree
Both free plans include a link page, but Later hides its own
Later's pricing page shows Starter, Growth and Scale and a 14-day trial. It does not show a free plan. Later's help centre documents one anyway, as a first-class tier alongside the paid three, and the Link in Bio product page carries CTAs reading "Get your free link in bio" and "Claim free link in bio". The free plan covers a customizable Link in Bio page, introductory analytics, limited post scheduling, one Access Group, and a calendar capped at two weeks either side of today.
One caveat we cannot resolve from published sources: Later never enumerates which Link in Bio sub-features the free plan gets. The pricing table's Link in Bio section has no Free column at all. So "a customizable Link in Bio page" is confirmed; whether it includes branding removal, Google Analytics or email collection is not.
Linktree's free plan is documented in full, and it is a larger free plan. Unlimited links, email and phone number collection, music and video embeds, a QR code, roughly two dozen link apps, and digital products and courses you can sell immediately. The catches are published too: a 12% seller fee, analytics capped at a rolling 28-day window, and a current beta that shows interstitial ads to visitors on some free pages after they click out.
Above the free line you are buying two unrelated things
Later's Link in Bio feature set is flat across all three paid plans. Every row in that section of the pricing table reads yes on Starter, Growth and Scale: buttons, linked posts, featured media, featured banner, multi-item banner, affiliate links via Mavely, Mailchimp connection, email collection, no Later branding, customization, Google Analytics, SEO customization and social links. Paying Later more never buys you a better link page. It buys social sets, users, posts per profile and AI credits.
Linktree's ladder works the other way round. Starter ($8) adds link scheduling, individual link insights and a 90-day analytics window. Pro ($15) is where the real jump sits: advanced themes, advanced button and font styles, wallpaper images and video, hero and video profile images, header layouts, plus Google Analytics, the Facebook Conversion API, global UTM parameters, SEO settings, email platform sync and AI-driven analytics. Premium ($35) adds 0% seller fees, dynamic links with smart routing, Instagram DM triggers and CSV export.
There is one place Later's entry plan is unexpectedly generous: Starter includes a year of Link in Bio analytics even though it only includes three months of platform analytics. If the link page is what you measure, Later's cheapest paid tier retains more of that history than its own headline number suggests.
If you want scheduling too, the arithmetic flips to Later
Linktree advertises social media scheduling only on the Premium plan card at $35 a month, or $30 billed annually. It has no row in Linktree's ~98-row comparison table and no plan gate documented in the help centre, so treat the gating as unconfirmed rather than settled. Taken at face value, a year of Linktree with scheduling costs $360 billed annually.
Later Starter billed annually is $18.75 a month, or $225 a year, and that buys one social set of eight profiles, 30 posts per profile per month, a branding-free link page, Google Analytics and SEO customization. For scheduling plus a link page, Later is $135 a year cheaper and vastly deeper on the scheduling side.
Invert the requirement and Linktree wins by more. If you only want a good link page, Linktree Pro billed annually is $144 a year against Later Starter's $225, and Linktree Pro's marketing stack is the one with conversion tracking and UTM parameters attached. Later has Google Analytics and SEO customization and stops there.
The weaknesses each one would rather you skipped
Linktree has no custom domain on any plan at any price, and its own help centre says so plainly. It has no custom CSS and no native email marketing: Pro syncs contacts out to Mailchimp, Kit, Klaviyo or Google Sheets, and that is the extent of it. Its design suite moved up a tier during 2026, from the $8 Starter plan to the $15 Pro plan, so the page-design case for Linktree costs almost twice what it used to.
Later's link page is a bundled feature rather than a product, and it shows. There is no commerce of any kind, so no store, no digital products, no payment processing and, by extension, no seller fees to compare. There is no custom domain row anywhere in Later's 60-plus row feature table; what the product offers is a customizable Link in Bio URL.
Two practical constraints worth knowing before you commit. Later's TikTok Link in Bio requires a TikTok Business account with at least 1,000 followers. And the 14-day trial is not available to accounts that have previously trialled or paid, so a returning user cannot re-test on it.
Who should choose what
Choose Linktree if
- The link page is the job, and you want it to sell: Later has no commerce at all
- You want conversion tracking, UTM parameters or the Facebook Conversion API, none of which Later offers
- You want a branding-free page cheaply: $144 a year on Pro against Later's $225 on Starter
- You publish to platforms Later does not cover, or you already schedule somewhere else
- You want documented free-plan limits rather than an unadvertised free tier
Choose Later if
- You need a real content calendar, not the scheduling Linktree advertises only on its $35 Premium card
- You want scheduling and a link page for one price: $225 a year against Linktree Premium's $360
- You post to Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat and want linked posts turning each one into a destination
- You work with a team: Growth adds collaboration, approvals, custom roles and a social inbox
- You want a year of link-page analytics on the entry paid plan
Frequently asked questions
Does Later have a free plan?
Yes, though it is not shown on Later's pricing page. Later's help centre documents a Free plan alongside Starter, Growth and Scale, and the Link in Bio product page advertises a free link in bio directly. It includes a customizable Link in Bio page, introductory analytics, limited post scheduling, one Access Group, and a calendar window capped at two weeks past and future. Which Link in Bio sub-features it includes is not published.
Can you use Later's link in bio without paying for scheduling?
Yes. Later's free plan includes a customizable Link in Bio page, so the link page is available at $0. On the paid side you cannot buy the link page separately: Starter, Growth and Scale price the whole social media management suite, and every Link in Bio feature row is identical across all three. Paying Later more gets you more social profiles, posts and analytics history, not a better link page.
Which is cheaper, Later or Linktree?
Both are free to start. Above that Linktree is much cheaper for a link page: Starter is $8 a month, Pro $15 and Premium $35, against Later's $25, $50 and $110. Billed annually, Linktree Pro is $144 a year against Later Starter's $225. The comparison reverses if you need scheduling: Linktree advertises social scheduling only on Premium at $360 a year billed annually, where Later Starter is $225 and includes far deeper publishing tools.
Does Later or Linktree offer a custom domain?
Neither does. Linktree states in its help centre that it does not offer a custom domain to replace the linktr.ee URL on any plan. Later's feature table has no custom domain row anywhere; what it offers is a customizable Link in Bio URL rather than your own domain. If a custom domain is essential, both tools are the wrong answer: Campsite.bio includes one from $7 a month and Beacons from $10.
Does Linktree have social media scheduling?
It advertises it, but only on the Premium plan card at $35 a month. There is no row for social media scheduling in Linktree's ~98-row plan comparison table and no plan gate documented in the help centre article about the feature, so the exact availability is unclear. Anyone buying Linktree specifically for scheduling should confirm it on the plan they intend to use. Later's scheduling, by contrast, is the core product and starts on the free plan in limited form.
What does Later's link in bio do that Linktree's does not?
Linked posts are the main one: Later lets you attach up to five links to a single Instagram post and one to a TikTok post, so followers tap the content itself rather than a separate list. Later also covers Snapchat alongside Instagram and TikTok, supports affiliate links through a connected Mavely account, and includes SEO customization on every paid plan. Going the other way, Linktree sells digital products and courses, offers roughly two dozen link apps, and runs Instagram auto-replies, none of which Later has.
