Beacons vs Komi

A feature-by-feature comparison based on our hands-on evaluation. 23 features differ between these tools.

Data verified

Which is better for creators, Beacons or Komi?

Beacons is the wider product; Komi is the cheaper way to do the narrower thing well. Both have real free plans, and they gate opposite things: Beacons lets you sell from day one and takes 9%, while Komi's free Starter plan cannot sell digital products at all. It is a mini-site with a CRM and brand-deal access attached. Komi Pro at $20/mo ($16 billed annually) drops the fee to 0%, removes branding, adds a custom domain and unlimited email campaigns; the equivalent bundle at Beacons is Creator Plus at $30/mo. Take Beacons if you want a store, courses with video, a website builder, Instagram auto-DMs and AI tooling in one dashboard; take Komi if your income runs through brand relationships and you mostly need a polished page, a contact database and a cheap 0% checkout.

Both free plans are generous, in opposite directions

Beacons Free gives you a customizable link-in-bio, an online store selling unlimited digital products at a 9% fee, one course without video hosting, 50 email sends a month, a media kit that now refreshes daily rather than weekly, unlimited Instagram auto-DMs, invoicing, multi-currency support and 30 daily AI credits. It is the most functional free tier in the category, and the 9% applies to affiliate commissions as well as sales.

Komi Starter gives you a mini-site, unlimited content and affiliate links, access to brand deals, a CRM with unlimited fan contacts, performance analytics with fan geography, data capture, events, video and audio content, tipping, plus unlimited team members and profiles. What it does not give you is the ability to sell a digital product. That is a Pro feature.

So the free-tier question isn't which is more generous, it's which kind of generosity you need. Beacons' free plan is a business you can run at a 9% tax. Komi's free plan is a shopfront and a contact database that cannot take money for a file.

Where the money actually crosses over

Against Beacons Free, Komi Pro's flat $20/mo becomes the cheaper total once you sell about $222 of digital products a month, or about $178 if you take Komi's $16 annual rate. Against Beacons Creator ($10/mo plus 9%), the crossover falls to about $111 a month, or $67 on Komi's annual rate.

Once both sides are at 0% (Beacons Creator Plus at $30 against Komi Pro at $20), Komi is $10 a month cheaper at every volume, or $9 comparing annual to annual ($25 against $16). That gap buys real things on the Beacons side, though: unlimited courses with video hosting, unlimited memberships, buy-now-pay-later, link scheduling, five websites and unlimited email sends rather than campaign sends alone.

One correction worth making, because it circulates widely: Komi's unlimited email does not undercut Beacons' unlimited tier by $14. That figure compares Komi's annual price to Beacons' monthly one. Like for like it is $10 a month, or $9 on annual billing.

Beacons has more surface; Komi has less to learn

Beacons runs a website builder (one page free, up to ten sites of ten pages on Creator Max), an AI credit system on every tier covering text, image, link-page design, email generation and trending-content search, unlimited Instagram Smart Reply auto-DMs on all plans, a daily media kit with gated access controls on Creator Plus, affiliate embeds from 12,000 brand partners, and Facebook, TikTok and Pinterest pixels from $10/mo. Komi has none of those.

What Komi has instead is a shorter product. Two plans, seventeen comparison rows, unlimited team members and unlimited profiles on both tiers, a Meta Pixel on Pro, and a CRM built around the creator-brand relationship rather than bolted on. For an agency evaluating a tool across a roster of talent, unlimited profiles on a free plan is unusually cheap to trial.

The friction points are worth naming. Komi's custom domain is a Pro entitlement but not self-serve. Its FAQ directs you to email support to get it set up. Beacons' breadth is its own tax: it scores lowest of the two on ease of use in our evaluation, and the most common complaint about it is not a missing feature but an abandoned setup.

The gaps they share, and what that means

Neither tool has Google Analytics. Neither supports UTM parameters. Neither has a Zapier integration or custom CSS. If you attribute traffic properly, run paid campaigns, or need your link page wired into an automation stack, both of these fail the same test: Beacons' pixel support covers Facebook, TikTok and Pinterest only, and Komi's covers Meta only.

That is the honest case for looking outside this pair. Linktree carries Google Analytics, the Facebook Conversion API, global UTM parameters and SEO settings on its Pro plan at $15/mo, and its free plan sells digital products immediately where Komi's cannot.

It has its own holes, and they are not small: no custom domain on any plan at any price, no custom CSS, no native email marketing, a 12% seller fee on the free tier, free analytics capped at a rolling 28 days, and its design suite locked to Pro. Beacons beats it on the domain and on email; Komi beats it on price for 0% selling. There is no tool here without a real compromise.

Who should choose what

Choose Beacons if

  • You want to sell from a free plan rather than upgrade before your first customer
  • Courses with video hosting, memberships or a multi-page website matter to you
  • Instagram auto-DMs are part of your funnel: they're unlimited on every Beacons tier and absent from Komi
  • You want a self-serve custom domain for $10/mo instead of emailing support for one
  • You'd use AI tooling for copy, images, page design or email drafts

Choose Komi if

  • Brand deals and fan relationships are the income, and a CRM matters more than a storefront
  • You want 0% on digital products for $20/mo rather than $30/mo
  • You want unlimited email campaigns for the lowest price of the two
  • You manage a roster: unlimited team members and profiles on the free plan make it cheap to trial across talent
  • You want a polished page with little configuration and no interest in learning a platform

Frequently asked questions

Can you sell digital products on Komi's free plan?

No. Komi's Starter plan is free and includes a mini-site, unlimited content and affiliate links, brand-deal access, a CRM with unlimited fan contacts, analytics, data capture, events, video and audio content and tipping. But digital products are a Pro feature at $20/mo, or $16/mo billed annually. Beacons, by contrast, sells unlimited digital products on its free plan at a 9% seller fee.

Which has cheaper unlimited email, Beacons or Komi?

Komi. Unlimited email campaigns and sends come with Komi Pro at $20/mo, or $16/mo billed annually. Beacons caps sends at 50 a month on Free and 500 on Creator ($10/mo); unlimited sends require Creator Plus at $30/mo, or $25/mo annually. Compared like for like that is $10 a month cheaper on Komi monthly, or $9 a month annually, not the $14 figure that circulates, which mixes Komi's annual rate with Beacons' monthly one.

At what sales volume does Komi Pro cost less than Beacons' free plan?

Around $222 a month in digital product sales. Beacons Free charges 9% with no subscription, so its total cost is 9% of what you sell; Komi Pro is a flat $20/mo with 0% on digital products. At Komi's $16 annual rate the crossover falls to about $178 a month. Measured against Beacons Creator ($10/mo plus 9%), Komi Pro wins above roughly $111 a month, or $67 on annual billing.

Does Komi offer a custom domain?

Yes, on the Pro plan at $20/mo ($16 annually), but it is not self-serve: Komi's FAQ directs you to email support@komi.io to have it set up. Beacons includes a free custom domain from its Creator plan at $10/mo, applied to the link-in-bio page, store product URLs and the media kit, and it configures without contacting anyone.

What can neither Beacons nor Komi do?

Neither supports Google Analytics, UTM parameters, Zapier or custom CSS. Beacons' pixel support covers Facebook, TikTok and Pinterest from $10/mo; Komi's covers Meta only on Pro. If proper attribution or an automation stack matters, both fall short. Linktree provides Google Analytics, the Facebook Conversion API, global UTM parameters and SEO settings on Pro at $15/mo, though it has no custom domain on any plan, no native email marketing and a 12% seller fee on its free tier.

Is Komi still invite-only?

No. Komi has two public, self-serve plans: Starter at $0 and Pro at $20/mo, or $16/mo billed annually. There are no custom-quote or enterprise tiers, and no invitation or agency relationship is required to sign up. Unlimited team members and unlimited profiles are included on both plans.
